Dance Studio Etiquette
- For the protection of all students, running is prohibited in the studio.
- Children should be supervised at all time.
- No rough- playing or loud voices are allowed in the building.
- No gum or candy is allowed during dance class. Candy may be given at the end of class as a reward.
- All trash should be placed in the trash can.
- Students should attend the restroom prior to class. This eliminates disruptions during class.
- Parents we ask that you keep any conversations to a minimum and at a very low voice level so that noise will not disturb the classes in session or office staff.
Classroom Etiquette
- Students are expected to respect their instructors by listening and following directions given by their instructors.
- Students should respect fellow classmates and their belongings.
- No gum, candy, or food (except water bottles) is allowed during dance class. Water must be in a container with a lid.
- The use of cell phones is prohibited during class.
- Profanity and offensive language is prohibited.
- Students are expected to come to class on time and be prepared for class.
- If students are more than 10 minutes late for class, they may be asked to sit and observe.
- Latecomers can be a distraction to the other dancers and proper warm-up is important to prevent injury.
- If there is a scheduling conflict getting to class from school, please notify the Teacher.
- It is the responsibility of the student to keep up with their personal belongings.
Attendance, Illness, or Injury
- Attendance is imperative for consistent progress.
- Full tuition is due each month regardless of your child’s attendance.
- If a student misses classes two weeks in a row due to unforeseen circumstances, call the studio and leave a message before class time.
- If students know in advance that they will be absent from class, please let the Teacher know before the day of the class.
- If students are too ill to participate in class, they should remain at home and rest.
- If they are injured, they should come to class and observe. Many students find that they learn more from observing class! This will also keep them apprised of the class' progress.
Dress Code
- Students are required to wear leotard, tights, form fitting shorts, skirt, or jazz pants.
- Students that are in grades 6-12 will be required to wear colored leotards determined by skill level. Leotards are required to be purchased from Tutu Perfect to ensure uniformity.
- Students that come to class unprepared may be asked to observe instead of participate.
- Appropriate dance wear is important so that the instructor can see alignment and positioning. Alignment and positioning are fundamental in learning proper dance. Students learn better and have more confidence when they are prepared.
- All hair must be pulled back away from the face.
- Proper dance shoes are required and must be purchased from Tutu Perfect to ensure uniformity.
Drop off and pick-up
- Students who are dropped off more than 5 minutes before class must be accompanied by an adult for there is no supervision for them. You are not required to stay once class begins.
- Students should be picked-up promptly after class.
- Parents of students 8 and under must come inside to pick-up your child.
- We reserve the right to charge you a $5 fee if your child is not picked up in a timely manner.
Payment Options
Tuition is based on 10 months; August-May and is not based on four weeks per month but rather on an annual cost and divided by 10 months. Joining Heather’s Dance, Inc. means committing to our dance year, running from August-May, and participating in our recital at the conclusion of the dance year. Full tuition must be paid regardless of your child’s attendance.

Please note that all returned checks will be subject to a $50 return check fee. If we receive more than two returned checks in a year, you will be asked to pay cash or credit for the remainder of the year.
Late Fees
- To maintain Heather's Dance Studio it is important that all tuition is received on time.
- Tuition is due on the 1st of the month and is considered late if received after the 7th.
- Please include a $10 late fee to your tuition if you pay after the 7th. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- If you are late two consecutive months, your child/children will not be able to return to dance until your balance is paid in full.
Withdrawal
- If for any reason, you must discontinue classes with Heather's Dance, Inc. a 30 day written notice is required. Voicemail or Email is NOT ACCEPTED.
- The accepted form of written notice is provided by Heather’s Dance, Inc. Please see office staff to sign a withdrawal form.
- Payment is expected through the end of the 30 day notice.
- If your child/children's costume has been ordered you will be expected to pay the remaining balance.
Costumes
- Costume fees are included in your monthly tuition.
- Costumes are ordered in December to ensure we have them in time for recital.
- Account must be in paid to date (Aug.-Dec.) before your child’s costume will be ordered.
- You are responsible for any extra costume fees acquired for rush shipment, etc. if your costume is ordered after December due to a delinquent account.
- If your child starts classes after December you will be required to pay the costume fees to date (Aug. –Dec.) before your costume will be ordered.
Important Information
- Each instructor will be allowed 1 sick/personal day throughout the year without having to make classes up at another time.
- Classes will only be cancelled due to sickness or an emergency.
- When Wake County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, we will be closed.
- We are open during teacher workdays and some Holidays.
- Please be sure to provide a current email address that is checked frequently, as this is our studio’s primary mode of communicating important information and announcements throughout the year.
